Nutanix

Nutanix is the market-leading hyperconverged infrastructure platform, radically simplifying enterprise IT management by bringing compute, storage and networking together in a single software-defined solution. With Nutanix, businesses get enterprise-grade scalability, reliability and performance while cutting both cost and operational complexity.

How it works

Nutanix at a glance

Hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI)

Nutanix lets you replace traditional three-tier IT architecture with a hyperconverged platform that brings servers, storage and virtualisation together in one solution. The approach removes the need for separate SAN/NAS storage and reduces performance bottlenecks. Resources are managed centrally through a simple, intuitive console, with automated provisioning and scaling.

Security built in by design

Nutanix is designed security-first, with native controls for micro-segmentation, end-to-end encryption and continuous auditing. Security policies are centralised and applied in software, protecting distributed environments as well. The platform is certified against the main security standards, making it well suited to regulated environments such as finance, pharmaceuticals and the public sector.

Elastic, flexible scaling

With Nutanix you can scale IT resources out incrementally, adding new nodes to the cluster with no downtime. This pay-as-you-grow model lets companies start with a modest configuration and grow in line with what they actually need, keeping cost and performance in balance. Scaling operations are transparent and take only a few clicks.

Centralised, simpler management

Nutanix Prism, the unified management interface, lets you monitor and control the whole IT environment from a single place. Advanced automation, AI and machine learning help detect anomalies, tune performance and cut daily manual work, all without switching between consoles, including across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

High availability and business continuity

With data replication, instant snapshots, automatic failover and built-in disaster recovery, Nutanix keeps operations running even through hardware failure or a disaster. The distributed infrastructure delivers native resilience, keeping downtime and data loss to a minimum. Integrated backup and cloud DR plans complete the picture.

Native support for hybrid cloud and multicloud

Nutanix integrates cleanly with the main hyperscalers (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), enabling a genuine multicloud strategy. Companies can move workloads between on-premises and public cloud securely and smoothly, while keeping governance and control centralised. Tools such as Nutanix Clusters and Calm also support orchestration and automation across hybrid environments.

In detail

Nutanix features

Nutanix is a strategic choice for businesses that want to modernise their IT infrastructure, break down technology silos and prepare for a cloud-native future. Its software-defined architecture moves past the limits of legacy solutions, offering a platform that performs well, stays secure and remains simple to manage, even in complex or distributed settings.

The main features Nutanix offers include:

  • AHV (Acropolis Hypervisor): the native hypervisor, included at no extra cost, optimised for hyperconverged environments and fully integrated with every part of the platform. It lets you virtualise workloads without needing VMware or other external hypervisor licences.
  • Prism: the unified management console, giving complete visibility over infrastructure, performance, alerts, capacity planning, updates and daily operations. With predictive features and intelligent reporting, it is the key tool for simpler IT operations.
  • Distributed Storage Fabric (DSF): a distributed storage system that aggregates the local disks in each node and presents them as a single resilient, scalable and high-performing datastore. It natively supports deduplication, compression, snapshots and replication.
  • Calm: the application and resource orchestrator, letting you automate application deployment and lifecycle management both on premises and in the cloud. Ideal for speeding up releases, improving governance and reducing human error.
  • Xi Leap: the integrated disaster-recovery-as-a-service offering, protecting mission-critical workloads by moving them into the Nutanix cloud when needed, without the complexity of traditional DR plans.
  • Karbon: a dedicated module for managing Kubernetes environments, simplifying container management on Nutanix infrastructure and making it easier to build modern, scalable applications.
  • Files and Objects: native, scalable file and object storage services, suited to use cases such as distributed file servers, document archiving or repositories for backup and analytics.
With Aesir

How we put it into service

Nutanix supports the main enterprise workloads, from SQL and Oracle databases to ERP applications, VDI, Citrix environments and collaboration systems. Its modular approach lets the solution be introduced gradually and tailored to the situation, on new or existing infrastructure, with the option of extending into public or private cloud without changing the application architecture.

Aesir delivers Nutanix on premises, in a private cloud (in certified Italian data centres) or in a hybrid model, enabling as-a-service models and scalability on demand. We work alongside the client at every stage: analysis, sizing, implementation, migration, monitoring and ongoing support. The platform can be combined with security solutions, immutable storage for ransomware protection and off-site backup, building infrastructure that is resilient, high-performing and ready for what comes next.
